Hi Thomas

Generally I like to be accommodating in rough circumstances, but again let's simply stick with the policy: Efe should email the study advisor and discuss an extension. At least a brief one should probably be granted.

A brief extension won't impact the schedule of our course, but we need the study advisor to weigh in on all these extensions. I don't want to make decisions myself since we don't know the full story about the students' situations, other courses, etc.

Subject: [ds2024-ki] thoughts about Efe Aras

Hi Vlad,

Of course the decision is yours, but allow me to share my two cents on the Efe Aras situation (see Thien An’s [great initials: TA] previous mail):

In my opinion, these kinds of situations are exactly what the 3-day extension is for,  but this should really stay an incidental exception.

I don’t see the need for allowing him an additional extension.

Unless the study advisor explicitly tells us there would be legitimate reasons to do so.

Best,

Thomas
