Hi everyone,
This Friday we will again have to exciting presentations! First, Christian Pipal will present a draft of his 8 month paper on emotional rhetoric in legislative debate.
Second, Ebe-Manye Ouattara will present: "From norms, to traits, to trust? An experimental panel study into norms of political leaders' traits and their relation to political trust". Attached you find a draft of the paper and below some comments from Ebe regarding the feedback he would like to receive on his paper.
This Friday our lab meeting will be in the Common Room on the 9th floor, from 15:00 till 17:00. Hope to see you all there!

Dear hot politics lab members,
The paper attached still has quite a long way to go before it is completed so feedback at this stage is most welcome. In particular, I’d like to point out that:
* We plan on rewriting the norms section to better convey why we believe norms play an important in evaluations.
* Pointers toward any sources or psychological literature on norm-based evaluations is much appreciated.
* We also have a number of robustness checks to perform (see next steps section at the end) but we are open to conduct additional robustness checks that we haven’t thought about.
* Any thoughts on how to make sense of these preliminary findings in light of our research puzzle and question is also welcome (e.g. does it contradict the model of norm-based evaluation or have we overlooked something?)
Thanks in advance.
