Hi everyone, This Friday from 15:00 - 16:00 we will have our third online Hot Politics Lab meeting! We are very excited to have Julia van Weert as our speaker. Julia van Weert is Professor of Health Communication at the Amsterdam School of Communication (ASCoR). She will talk about how effective communication can increase compliance with government related COVID-policies. Hi everyone, This Friday at 15:00 we will have our second online meeting of the Hot Politics Lab! We're excited to have Stuart Soroka from the University of Michigan joining us this week. Stuart Soroka will talk in the online lab about both the persuasiveness of negative news and the potential for positive news. As last week, the talk will be followed by a Q&A. We can also already announce the speaker of next week. First Online Hot Politics Lab Meeting 20-03

Hi everyone, This Friday we will have the first online meeting of the Hot Politics Lab! We're excited to have Michael Bang Petersen from Aarhus University as our first guest who will give a talk about how democratic governments should mobilize their publics to defeat COVID-19. On March 9th he wrote an article that shaped the Danish government’s response to the virus. Lab Meets Lab March 20th

Hi everyone, This Friday's Hot Politics Lab meeting is unfortunately cancelled. However, we will have an extra-long lab meeting next week! Friday March 20th we have our very first "lab-meets-lab" meeting. We'll have 3 presentations from Hot Politics Lab members and 3 presentations from members of the group around Reinout de Vries (Psychology, VU Amsterdam). Hot Politics Lab Meeting 6/3

Hi everyone, This Friday's lab meeting we will have two exciting presentations. First, Isabella Rebasso will present "Pre-analysis Plan: How appraisals shape emotional responses to politics". Second, Eline de Rooij (Associate Professor Political Science, Simon Fraser University) will talk about "Gendered Voter Mobilization within Households". See attached the abstract of her talk. Dear all, On Wednesday March 4, I co-organize with my ASCoR colleagues Alex Nai and Lukas Otto a Super-Tuesday breakfast. We have invited Amanda Friesen (Associate Professor Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis), Maarten Kolsloot (journalist) and Bertine Moenaff (spokesperson) to reflect with on the outcomes of the Super-Tuesday primary. This is part of our classes Political Marketing and Psychology of Political Communication. But I want to stress that you are most welcome to join.
