Hi everyone,
This Friday (13th November) from 15:00 till 16:00 we have another exciting lab meeting. In this session of the Online Hot Politics Lab, Ashley Jardina (Duke University) will talk about her book "White identity politics". Below a short description.
White Identity Politics by Ashley Jardina:
"In White Identity Politics, Ashley Jardina offers a landmark analysis of emerging patterns of white identity and collective political behavior, drawing on sweeping data. Where past research on whites' racial attitudes emphasized out-group hostility, Jardina brings into focus the significance of in-group identity and favoritism. White Identity Politics shows that disaffected whites are not just found among the working class; they make up a broad proportion of the American public - with profound implications for political behavior and the future of racial conflict in America". More information about the speaker and her book can be found here<https://sites.duke.edu/ashleyjardina/>.
The talk will be followed by a Q&A, and everybody is welcome to join via Zoom at 3pm (CET). You can join the lab meeting with this link: https://uva-live.zoom.us/j/96492065253<https://eur04.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fuva-live.…>. We are furthermore organizing our first Online Political Psychology Meeting, which will take place this Thursday November 12th from 15:00 - 16:30 (3 pm CET). In this meeting we will have two excellent speakers: Patrick Kraft (University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee) talking about "Everyone Cares about Fairness: Why Morality Doesn't Fit in a Bag of Words" and Amanda Friesen (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) presenting "What we talk about when we talk about politics". Here the zoom link: https://uva-live.zoom.us/j/98135228239. More information and the full program can be found here<http://www.hotpolitics.eu/event/online-polpsych-meeting/>. No registration is needed.
