Hi everyone,

This Friday (13th November) from 15:00 till 16:00 we have another exciting lab meeting. In this session of the Online Hot Politics Lab, Ashley Jardina (Duke University) will talk about her book “White identity politics”. Below a short description.

White Identity Politics by Ashley Jardina:

“In White Identity Politics, Ashley Jardina offers a landmark analysis of emerging patterns of white identity and collective political behavior, drawing on sweeping data. Where past research on whites' racial attitudes emphasized out-group hostility, Jardina brings into focus the significance of in-group identity and favoritism. White Identity Politics shows that disaffected whites are not just found among the working class; they make up a broad proportion of the American public - with profound implications for political behavior and the future of racial conflict in America”. More information about the speaker and her book can be found here.

The talk will be followed by a Q&A, and everybody is welcome to join via Zoom at 3pm (CET). You can join the lab meeting with this link: https://uva-live.zoom.us/j/96492065253. Or via our website: http://www.hotpolitics.eu/joinmeeting/

Political Psychology Meeting

We are furthermore organizing our first Online Political Psychology Meeting, which will take place this Thursday November 12th  from 15:00 – 16:30 (3 pm CET). In this meeting we will have two excellent speakers: Patrick Kraft (University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee) talking about “Everyone Cares about Fairness: Why Morality Doesn’t Fit in a Bag of Words” and Amanda Friesen (Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis) presenting “What we talk about when we talk about politics”. Here the zoom link: https://uva-live.zoom.us/j/98135228239. More information and the full program can be found here. No registration is needed.

Have a great rest of the week and looking forward to “seeing” many of you Thursday and/or Friday!
