Dear Colleagues, We are pleased to share with you that the Special Issue "Infra-Operative Imaging, Sensing and Augmented Reality in Image-Guided Surgery" in the open access journal Sensors (ISSN 1424-8220, IF 3.576), is open for submission: Special Issue Website at: https://www.mdpi.com/si/sensors/image_guided_sens Guest editors: Prof. Dr. Guoyan Zheng, Prof. Dr. Wenyong Liu and Prof. Dr. Xiaojun Chen Image-guided surgery (IGS) has gained widespread acceptance in various clinical practices. Although the core concepts of IGS have not changed, advances in image guidance technology, including the incorporation of intra-operative imaging, sensing and augmented reality, have the potential to enhance the safety of surgery, improve the accuracy of interventions, and aid in more complete surgery, with improved outcomes. In the past few years, significant progresses have been achieved in developing novel intra-operative imaging means, in incorporating smart sensing technology and in the introduction of new augmented reality display. This Special Issue is open to research and review papers in this field, including, but not limited to: • Intra-operative imaging • Robotic imaging • Surgical imaging and vision • Intra-operative sensing, perception and recognition • Augmented reality in IGS • Multi-modal image fusion and visualization If you decide to contribute to this special issue or have any question, please contact charlene.dong(a)mdpi.com. Tenure track position on “Computational design of biosystems” available at the Department of Data Analysis and Mathematical Modelling of the Faculty of Bioscience Engineering, Ghent University, Belgium. The Faculty of Bioscience Engineering at the Ghent University is looking for a Professor in a tenure track system, in the discipline of Computational design of biosystems. On the one hand, the candidate is expected to lecture various courses, supervise bachelor and master thesis students and contribute to post-academic programs. On the other hand, the candidate conducts research in the modelling, algorithmic design and optimization of biosystems. Part of this academic research also consists of publishing in international scientific peer-reviewed journals and attracting funding and PhD students. The candidate’s position will be funded for an initial period of 5 years and will be converted into a permanent appointment as an associate professor after a positive evaluation by the University Board. A € 210.000 package will also be provided as a starting grant. Within the scope of physics-aware and interpretable machine learning, you will be free to set your own scientific emphasis.
