Dear Colleagues,
The YES workshop "Optimal Transport, Statistics, Machine Learning and moving in between” will take place 5-9 September 2022 in Eurandom, Eindhoven. This workshop is part of the series of Young European Statistician workshops, but has a broader scope than usual. We are very happy to feature tutorial talks by world experts Marco Cuturi (CREST-ENSAE, Apple ML Research), Jonathan Niles-Weed (NYU) and Yoav Zemel (University of Cambridge). In addition to this, there will be talks by several invited and contributed speakers. For the program, registration and more information please visit the conference website:

Best wishes,
The organizers (Rui Castro, Augusto Gerolin, Johannes Schmidt-Hieber, Oliver Tse)
NEUROMORPHIC COMPUTING NETHERLANDS (NCN2022)
We kindly invite you to the 2nd edition of the Neuromorphic Computing Netherlands (NCN2022) Workshop hosted this year at Radboud University Nijmegen.
Neuromorphic Computing inspired by computation in the brain is rapidly growing in high-tech research as the principal paradigm for EdgeAI. In this workshop, we aim to bring together researchers and practitioners from different disciplines working with neuromorphic technology to discuss trends from algorithmic, architectural, and application domains across the Netherlands. For this edition, the leitmotif is: control and learning. The event is free, but registration is required.
Date: 30th September 2022, 11.30 – 18.00h (CEST)
Website: http://spikeference.eu/?page_id=558
Location (hybrid): Robot Atrium – MM 01.430 & MM 01.573 (room + poster / lunch space) Maria Montessori building | Thomas van Aquinostraat 4, 6525 GD Nijmegen. AI Department, Donders Center of Cognition, Radboud University Nijmegen.
Keynote speakers: Charlotte Frenkel (TU Delft) and Christian Machens (Champalimaud Centre, Portugal)
Registration (Deadline 12th September): https://www.ru.nl/ai/vm/neuromorphic-computing-netherlands-ncn2022/
In the registration process, you can apply to give a presentation, bring a poster or only attend. Please be aware that we have limited space, and the in-person registration will close when full. If you cannot attend but want to watch the presentations you can also register to get the online link.

The department of Information and Computing Sciences of Utrecht University is looking for an enthusiastic candidate to work in the area of causal discovery. Possible projects include the investigation of algebraic constraints imposed by linear structural equation models, and the development of powerful and efficient causal discovery algorithms that can use such constraints to find the causal graph that best fits the data.
For more information and to apply, please see:
https://www.uu.nl/en/organisation/working-at-utrecht-university/jobs/phd-po…
Application deadline: 29 August
Are you interested in applying ideas from the exciting new field of causal
representation learning (https://crl-uai-2022.github.io/) to multimodal
data, e.g., images, text, etc.? Are you excited about investigating
fundamental questions and developing a unified principled framework, but
also testing them empirically?
The Intelligent Data Engineering Lab at the University of Amsterdam (
www.uva.nl) is seeking a motivated PhD student in the area of causality,
causal representation learning and multimodal data fusion. You will be
working under the supervision of dr. Sara Magliacane (
https://twitter.com/saramagliacane) and prof. Paul Groth (
https://indelab.org/)
on a new fundamental research project, funded by the US Air Force Office of
Scientific Research, aimed at creating foundational theory and methods for
extracting and fusing causal knowledge from multiple modalities.
Deadline: September 15 2022
