Dear colleagues,

We would like to invite you to our upcoming lecture and workshop: MAIHDA, a new approach for studying intersectional inequalities.
George Leckie is a visiting fellow of SoBe DSC, Co-Director of the Centre for Multilevel Modelling (CMM) at the School of Education at the University of Bristol, and will provide this lecture as part of the RICDE lecture series.

 Invitation: Thursday 16 April 2026

Professor Leckie will provide a seminar and workshop on Multilevel Analysis of Individual Heterogeneity and Discriminatory Accuracy (MAIHDA). MAIHDA is an increasingly popular method for studying intersectional inequalities in individual outcomes. A typical application might examine how mean reading scores vary across combinations of sex, ethnicity, and social class, and disability. In his seminar, professor Leckie will introduce the approach, explore its links to intersectional theory, and outline its various extensions, illustrating each with examples from published applications. The seminar is followed by a workshop providing participants with hands-on experience on applying MAIHDA in R or Stata.
