Dear all, please forward the following summary of the key discussion and action points from our away day MASTERS
1) Create a coherent and usable database of alumni. Can we / do we have an alumni officer at the AISSR level or department level?
2) Enhance connections with our alumni by invitations to lectures, workshops etc. but also for occasional engagement in what we teach
3) Write articles with supervisors a desirable outcome; but this is not possible for all masters theses PhD
1) There is clear and loud need for a common room for enchancing networking, connections, intellectual exchange and socializing
2) All staff are requested to be present at the research meetings with PhDs and have an input and give formal feedback
3) An anuual phd event will be organized by PhDs. The department could possible help with some funds. But other sources should be explored from the PhDs at AISSR that have not been tapped inot
4) There is need to build a stronger peer network within the planning group and /or with links to other groups in the AISSR. PhD students will take initiative on this POST-DOCS
1) Strive for permanent jobs-internationally
2) Be pro-active in international networking and organize their own sessions when attending conferences. Invite the people you want to engage with in those sessions
3) Permanent academic staff (their mentors in particular) will discuss a strategy for getting teaching experience within UvA courses
